Full-Day Chiang Rai City Tour
Itinerary:
11:00 AM – Arrive at Wat Rong Khun (The White Temple): Arrive at the remarkable Wat Rong Khun, or the White Temple. This unique structure is a stunning blend of modern art and traditional religious symbolism, created by the renowned artist Chalermchai Kositpipat. Marvel at the intricate designs that make this temple one of Thailand’s most iconic landmarks.
11:30 AM – Visit Wat Rong Suea Ten (The Blue Temple): Just a short drive away, visit Wat Rong Suea Ten, known for its striking blue hue accented with gold. This temple beautifully combines traditional Buddhist principles with modern artistic influences, thanks to the vision of Phuttha Kaew, a former apprentice of the White Temple’s architect.
12:30 PM – Lunch at a Local Restaurant
1:30 PM – Explore the Black House (Baan Dam Museum): Next, head to the Black House, a fascinating collection of art installations and buildings designed by National Artist Thawan Duchanee. The Black House, with its dark and earthy tones, explores themes of life, death, and impermanence, symbolized by the use of buffalo horns and other natural materials.
02:45 PM – Visit Akha Hill Tribe Village & Long-Neck Karen Village: We set out on the long journey back to Chiang Mai, stopping enroute at an Akha hill tribe village to witness the curious and primitive lives of this minority group and a quick photo-op with the remarkable long-necked Karen women.
